Nasasira Rallies Kazo: Guard Peace, Welcome President

John Nasasira, the veteran former MP for Kazo Constituency and long-serving minister, has praised the National Resistance Movement (NRM) leadership for delivering lasting peace and creating an environment for meaningful development across Uganda.

Speaking on Kazo FM radio alongside the district mobilization team ahead of the President’s visit on 28 November, Nasasira urged citizens to jealously guard the hard-won gains the country has achieved: modern factories, widespread electricity access, quality schools, good roads, a stable shilling, and, above all, peace.

His sentiments were echoed by Charles Kampikaho, a respected senior citizen and Councillor for Older Persons in Kazo District Council. Reflecting on life before the NRM came to power, Kampikaho noted that factories were virtually non-existent and highlighted how the ruling party has driven remarkable industrial growth, transformed infrastructure, and uplifted the economy—changes that elders who lived through the earlier eras can clearly testify to.

Kazo District Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Retired Captain Yahaya Kakooza, called on all residents to turn out in large numbers and accord the President a peaceful, dignified welcome on the 28th. “Let us maintain the peace we have enjoyed,” he stressed.

“There is no need for guns, pangas, or sticks—just come with joy and unity to show our appreciation.”

Meanwhile, the NRM District Chairman, Wilson Nkaija, expressed full confidence that party supporters are fully mobilized and ready to give the President a resounding, warm reception. “Everything is in place for a grand and memorable event,” he assured.

A towering figure in both Kazo and national politics, Hon. John Nasasira represented Kazo County in Parliament from 1989-2016 and held several key ministerial portfolios, including Minister for Information and Communication Technology, leaving an indelible mark on the region’s and the country’s development.
