Nakawala Health Centre III water project launched

Mubende District Local Government officials, led by the Chief Administrative Officer, officially launched a new water project at Nakawala Health Center in Kabbo Parish, Kasambya Subcounty. The project, valued at approximately 360 million Ugandan shillings, aims to benefit not only the health facility but also the surrounding residents.

Simon Musindi, the Assistant Resident District Commissioner (RDC) responsible for Kasambya County, urged community members to take an active role in supervising the project. “I encourage all of you, especially village leaders, to be vigilant in overseeing this project. As district officials, we cannot be here all the time, but you can. If the contractor is uncooperative, report to us immediately,” Musindi emphasized.

Ssali Edson, representing the CAO, also addressed the community. He highlighted the importance of maintaining health and hygiene, stating that the water supplied would be safe and clean. However, he stressed that the community must also construct proper toilets to meet government targets for empowerment and sanitation. Edson further urged the contractor to complete the project within the agreed timeframe.

Hon. Michael Muhereza Ntambi, the LC5 Chairperson of Mubende District, expressed gratitude to district officials for their support during his tenure. He noted that prior to his leadership, many health centers in Mubende lacked reliable water supplies. “When I took office, about 80% of health centers had no tapped water. Now, every subcounty in Mubende, including Butologo, Madudu, Kigando, Kiyuni, and Lubimbili, has tapped water, with some projects nearing completion,” he stated.

Hon. Ntambi also advised residents to continue supporting the NRM government and President Yoweri Museveni. Residents thanked district officials, Hon. Ntambi, and their local MP, Hon. David Kabanda, for their continued support, especially in areas they felt had previously been neglected.

The water project at Nakawala Health Center marks a significant step towards improving healthcare and sanitation in Mubende District, with community involvement and government support at the forefront.
