Mubende district RDC and MP hopeful in open confrontation

Tensions have escalated into open confrontation between the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Mubende district and the parliamentary candidate for Buwekula County Hon. Fred Mukasa Mbidde. The dispute centers around allegations of poster and billboard destruction with Mbidde accusing the RDC Kyamuzigita Nayebare Fred of involvement in the vandalism.

In circulating audio recordings, Hon. Mbidde expressed his intention to take legal action against the RDC, stating, “Tampering with someone’s posters is illegal. The RDC is fueling a gang of boys to tear my billboards and posters. I will take Mr. Nayebare to court because no one is above the law.” Mbidde further criticized the RDC accusing him of undermining the peace established by President Museveni and turning the region into a conflicting regime. He also called for RDCs to pursue higher education to better understand government ideologies.

Responding to these allegations, Kyamuzigita clarified that he never ordered the destruction of Mbidde’s posters. “I don’t know why Hon. Mbidde chose to attack me. I was transferred to Mubende just a month ago and I am not familiar with the boundaries of his area,” he stated.

Kyamuzigita held a press conference at his office in Mubende Municipality where he criticized Mbidde’s methods of gathering information accusing him of sourcing details from unreliable channels to tarnish reputations. He alleged that Mbidde has been intimidating security agencies and political agents in Buwekula and Mubende districts. “Mbidde’s aim is to garner sympathy votes because he finds it difficult to sell his image to the people. He is not a true resident of Buwekula,” the RDC added.

Hon. Mbidde concluded by urging individuals involved in political disputes to report their cases to proper authorities rather than engaging in social media criticism. The ongoing feud has drawn widespread attention, highlighting the intense political rivalry in Mubende District as campaigns heat up ahead of upcoming elections.
