
Secondary school teacher arrested over rape
Police in Kanungu district are holding Brian Akampurira,30 on allegations of having carnal knowledge of a 13-year-old girl from Ndeba Cell, Kihihi Town Council, Kanungu District.
According to police reports, the incident is believed to have occurred on Sunday, October 12, 2025, around 11:00 a.m. The suspect, a secondary school teacher and resident of Ndeba Cell is accused of luring the young girl into a bush near Bright Future Primary School in Karaunda village as she was heading to prayers at Healing Allena Church.
It is alleged that the girl, upon reaching the school encountered Akampurira whom she recognized by appearance. He reportedly seduced her, took her to a nearby eucalyptus forest and engaged in sexual intercourse with her. The girl raised an alarm but no one came to her rescue as she was in a remote area. She reportedly was threatened with death if she dared to report the incident.
Fortunately, on her way home, a Good Samaritan assisted her and took her to Kihihi Police Station. Coincidentally, the suspect also appeared at the police station where he was identified by the victim. He was promptly arrested and charged with aggravated defilement.
Police spokesperson ASP Maate Elly confirmed that investigations are ongoing and the suspect will be produced before the courts to answer the charges accordingly. Authorities continue to prioritize safeguarding minors and ensuring justice is served in this case.
