Three Arrested Over Death of Man-Rukungiri
Rukungiri District Police have apprehended three suspects in connection with the assault that led to the death of 24-year-old Kakuru Gidion alias Hakizimana Kaboy. The incident occurred on July 27 at around 3:00 am in Kanyankyende Cell, Nyabitete Parish, Bugangari Sub County.
According to Elly Mate, the Kigezi region police Spokesperson revealed that the suspects are identified as Nsimire Justin, Ndyamuhaki Posiano and Murokozi John.
Police reports indicate that the incident began on the evening of July 26 when Ndyamuhaki Posiano and Murokozi John were at their sister Nsimire Justin’s bar located at Kanyankyende Trading Centre. The deceased, Nakuru Gideon who was reportedly in a romantic relationship with Nsimire Justin attempted to make advances towards her at the bar. This led to a disagreement during which the two brothers allegedly attacked and assaulted Nakuru Gideon leaving him unconscious along the way.
Area Chairperson, Habaasa Wilber responded to the scene after being alerted and assisted in rushing the victim to the hospital. Unfortunately, Nakuru succumbed to his injuries before reaching medical help. The incident was subsequently reported to Bugangari Police Station.
Police officers visited the crime scene, documented it and arrested the suspects to facilitate further investigation. The body of the deceased was conveyed to Rwakabengo Health Center III mortuary for postmortem examination.
Authorities continue to investigate the matter and the suspects remain in custody as police work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
