35-year-old man beaten to death over theft of pigs
Authorities in Bushenyi are investigating circumstances under which a 35-year-old man was beaten to death by a mob.
Zaverio Mpambiro, the LC III chairman, Nkanga sub-county confirmed the incident and identified the deceased as Pison Turyagamuyo, a resident of Kigingo village, Nyamirembe parish, Nkanga sub-county in Bushenyi district.
Mpambiro revealed on Saturday night at around 2am, that the deceased broke into Bazir Kandyomunda’s pigsty (of the same residence) where he was caught red-handed slaughtering two pigs.
Mpambiro added that while slaughtering the pigs, one of the casual worked heard a pig’s sound, he alarmed the residents who gathered and beat him to death.
He said the deceased had been terrorizing the residents stealing their pigs and goats which prompted the security detail to opt for night patrols.
Mpambiro also reported that so far, over 45 goats and 63 pigs were registered stolen in a period of 2 months.
