S.6 Vacist found dead in a lodge
Police in Rukungiri are investigating circumstances under which a 22 year old student in S.6 vacation was found dead in a bar lodge room.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson confirmed the incident and identified the deceased as Davis Turyatunga, a resident of Binyena village, Kisizi parish, Nyarushanje sub-county in Rukungiri district.
Rosemary Kyomuhendo, the mother to the deceased intimated to police that on 12th Feb 2023 at about 11Pm at Binyena village, Twinamatsiko Sustino, 20, also a student in ‘O’ level vacation moved with the deceased to an unknown place.
Kyomuhendo added that they were later seen at Ensinikweri Moses’s bar at Kisizi upper trading center where they allegedly asked to be served drinks in a private room lodge section.
It’s further alleged that at around 4Pm, Twinamatsiko informed the bar attendants that his colleague (the deceased) was very drunk and unable to move by himself, hence left him sleeping in the lodge room.
Maate adds that surprisingly, Turyatunga was found dead by bar attendants in the morning of 13th February 2023 at about 10:00am when they checked on him after he failed to open.
Police was duly notified and upon visiting the scene, they discovered 4 empty plastic bottles of Torero drink and 2 empty bottles of Sting energy drink in the room where the body was found.
The Body was then conveyed to Rwakabengo health center III mortuary for postmortem and the two bar attendants as well as Twinamatsiko have since been arrested to help police with investigations.
