Western Uganda’s Ray G holds another successful concert

Thousands of people flocked Mbarara University Inn in Mbarara City on August 20th to attend Western Uganda’s singing sensation Ray G’s second edition concert dubbed Ray G Live Concert.

Arguably Western Uganda’s best musician, Muhairwe Reagan popularly known as Ray G had his concert pull thousands from near and far, Ankole and beyond on Saturday.

The concert whose biggest sponsor was MTN Uganda, had concert tickets going for UGX 10,000 ordinary, UGX 30,000 VIP while a table was being sold at UGX 500,000.

Ray G has earned his respect by his ability to make his indigenous language sound sweet and romantic.  With his melodious voice, he effortlessly knits love themed RnB, Afrobeat, and Reggae songs in Runyankole.

Ray G has maintained his singing style; from the days of Enshazi, Nokigambahoki, Mureebe, Weeshe, Omusheeshe, there is a lot of Ray G music that Ugandans have fed on that by the time of the concert, many of the people on the Mbarara University Inn grounds had more than 10 songs they badly wanted him to perform.

At exactly 11:45PM, Ray G hit the stage with his cross country hit Mureebe that sent the crowd wild as they sang along word for word.

In his two-time stage appearances, he performed his other hit songs including; Make a Way, Eizooba, Omwigarire, Nuunu, Nkaronda, Ringaaniza, Humuura, Naaba Nkwine, Tayari, Hiihi my Love, Rukundo which he performed with Serena Bata, and his latest collabo with Levixone; Yoya among others.

The show featured performances from Ziza Bafana, Megatone, Rasta Charz, while Western Uganda’s celebrated MC, MC Kacheche was the main host of the event.

The eager audience cheered exhilaratingly at the announcement of each performer and sang along to the stars’ songs as each act dazzled them.

Ray G’s mother and wife Annabelle who attended the concert appreciated the fans for showing up to support Ray G.

Born 12 June 1992, Ray G who mainly sings heritage music in Runyankore, started singing in 2009 while at school until 2014 when he broke through with his hit song “Amarari”.

On 14 September 2019, he held a successfully concert for his celebration for 10 years in the music industry, he broke a record of staging a highly attended concert in Mbarara City, Western Uganda.

In 2021, Ray G won an award of the best years act from Western Uganda from the New Janzi Awards aimed at recognizing Ugandan musicians in the creative art industry.

Ray G has gained East African recognition after he shared big stages with international artists like Eddy Kenzo, Meddy and Jose Chameleon and secured collaborations with stars like Spice Diana, Levixone, Geo Steady, and the Covid-19 hit that featured all stars.
