Police arrest one in motorcycle theft
Police in Nebbi District have detained Munguryek Morgan in connection with the theft of a motorcycle belonging to Jakisa Emmy Saviour.
The incident was reported on January 26, 2026 when Jakisa Emmy Saviour discovered that his motorcycle had been stolen from its parking spot. He immediately reported the theft to police, providing the case with SD Reference 15/27/01/2026 and requested the deployment of a police sniffer dog to assist in the investigation.
Responding swiftly, a team of police officers led by a trained dog handler arrived at the scene. The officers found the crime scene to be well preserved. They introduced a sniffer dog T/P 237 Pablo to the scent bed of the stolen motorcycle. The dog successfully picked up a human scent believed to be left behind by the suspect.
Following the trail, the dog tracked the scent for approximately 80 meters leading officers to a location where a motorcycle handle had been abandoned. The search continued and the dog’s scent trail eventually took the team to a nearby residence. After a brief rotation of the dog, Pablo directed the officers to a pit latrine where Munguryek Morgan was found hiding.
Morgan was immediately arrested and taken to Nebbi Police Station to assist with further investigations. The recovered motorcycle handle has been secured as an exhibit to aid in building the case. Police have confirmed that investigations are ongoing, and efforts continue to gather more evidence related to the theft.
