Kitengyeto Primary School Benefits from Government Support

Kitengyeto Primary School in Kayanga Parish Kazo Subcounty Kazo district is set to undergo significant development following a government-funded project aimed at improving educational infrastructure within the district.

A district delegation led by the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), District Education Officer (DEO), District Chairperson Hon. Daniel Nahurira Bwamunyoga, District Speaker and other officials officially handed over the contractor to the school community to commence construction of a new structure. The project will see the construction of two new classrooms and an office space to enhance the learning environment.

According to the District Speaker, the project is estimated to cost over 140 million Ugandan shillings and is expected to be completed within four months. Hon. Nahurira highlighted that Kitengyeto Primary School is among five schools in the district benefiting from this initiative during the current financial year, alongside Rushasha, Akati, Akengyeya, and Magondo Primary Schools.

He attributed this development to the district’s improved performance whereby it was ranked 14th nationally leading to an increase in the education budget. “Initially, we were working on two schools but five schools will benefit from this support,” Nahurira said. He urged the contractor to deliver quality work, emphasizing the importance of timely completion.

Wilson Kuzaara, the School Management Committee Chairman and Moses Magyezi, the LC1 Chairman of Kitengyeto, expressed gratitude to district leadership and the government for this support. They also pledged to support the ruling NRM party in the upcoming general elections.

Paddy Tumushabe, the school’s headteacher thanked the government of the NRM for its continued support and expressed optimism about the positive impact the new facilities will have on students’ academic performance. He noted that last year all pupils achieved second grades, and with the upcoming improvements, student enrollment, which currently stands at 246 pupils, is expected to increase.
