Domestic fight leaves man dead

Police in Kanungu District are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Ngambeki Spiriano,51, who died instantly following a domestic altercation with his wife, Nzabaruntume Dinavance, 48. The incident occurred on November 18, 2025, at around 2:00 PM at their residence in Group Farm B, Kibimbiri Parish, Kihihi Sub-county.

It is alleged that Ngambeki and Nzabaruntume who were previously married and had children, later separated. Ngambeki moved to Kebisoni in Rukungiri District to marry a second wife, leaving Nzabaruntume at their former home where she has been living with her young grandchild.

On the day of the incident, Ngambeki visited with his second wife in Kanungu district but left her at Kibimbiri Trading Centre and proceeded to his former home to check on Nzabaruntume. It is reported that the two engaged in a fierce fight behind their house during which both sustained serious injuries. Tragically, Ngambeki succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Neighbors who were alerted by the commotion, discovered Ngambeki lying outside the house and raised an alarm. The suspect, Nzabaruntume reportedly called their son-in-law, a one Benon to come and pick up their child. She then attempted to flee the scene but was quickly apprehended by neighbors and later re-arrested by police.

Police officers responded promptly, visited the crime scene, and conducted a thorough investigation. Statements were taken from witnesses, and clothes believed to belong to the deceased were recovered from a pit latrine behind their house, as the body had been cleaned and dressed in different clothes prior to the arrival of authorities.

The body was transported to Kihihi Health Center IV for a postmortem examination. The suspect was also taken for medical treatment due to a deep cut on her head sustained during the scuffle.

The police are currently conducting inquiries to establish what triggered the fight and whether it led to murder. The investigation continues as authorities seek to determine the full circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
