Man murdered, buried by lover in Kiruhura

Police in Kiruhura District have exhumed the decomposing body of Kamanyire Yonah, 36, suspected to have been murdered by his wife and her co-fiancé in Rwakitura Cell, Rushere Town Council. The incident has sparked investigations into a possible case of domestic homicide.

Kamanyire Yonah, also known as Kanyankore hails from Bihanga sub county in Buhweju District. He was employed by Aidah Kakye a resident of Rwakitura Cell living on her banana plantation. Kamanyire was a father of four children and was last seen on October 31, 2025. His body was discovered and exhumed on November 8, 2025 from a location near his home, buried in a banana plantation. The body showed signs of head injuries and he was found tied with a sack around his neck.

Initial investigations point to a conspiracy involving his wife, Nasasira Dorreck, 33, and her co-fiancé, Nuwagaba Kenneth. Both are currently in police custody as suspects believed to have planned and executed the killing.

Grace Owomubigire, Chairman of the Local Council I for Rwakitura Cell, told Kazo FM that he received reports of Kamanyire’s disappearance before the body was recovered. He expressed disappointment with community members who he said often ignore warning signs and fail to report suspicious activities.

Aidah Kakye, the employer of the deceased stated that she was unaware of any family conflicts involving Kamanyire until his disappearance. She described him as a hardworking man and expressed shock at the incident.

Turyahebwa Rogers, one of Kamanyire’s colleagues and a witness to the incident, provided further details about the tragic event stating that the mother of the children was involved in the killing.

Following the exhumation, relatives of the deceased became distressed and demanded financial assistance to cover transport costs for taking Kamanyire’s body back to Buhweju District. Authorities allowed them to organize the transport but police officials declined to comment further on the case.

The police at the scene refused to speak to Kazo FM regarding the ongoing investigation. The case remains under active investigation as authorities work to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the tragic death.
