
man who confessed murder in church arrested
A suspect connected to the murder of a woman at Cheers Public and Accommodation in Kabale has been apprehended. The incident which occurred on July 29 involved the victim, Kobusingye Leonada, 45 a resident of Ahataba village, Shebeya Parish, Hamurwa Sub-county, Rubanda District.
According to police reports, Kobusingye was last seen going to the lodge with an unidentified male companion before she was murdered, and the perpetrator subsequently fled the scene.
The suspect, Mwesigwa Clinton, 24, a clinical officer and volunteer at Hamurwa Health Centre IV was arrested on August 9. He was apprehended from a church in Nakawa, Kampala where he was reportedly confessing to the crime and requesting prayers. Mwesigwa hails from Mitooma District but resides in Hamurwa Town Council, Kabale District.
Following his arrest, Mwesigwa was transferred from Jinja Road Police Station to Kabale Central Police Station for further inquiries. Authorities have indicated that once investigations are complete, he will be arraigned before the courts of law.
The police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the murder and appeal to the public for any additional information that might assist in the case.
