42 year old woman arrested for murdering, burying husband in bedroom
Police in Buhweju District have arrested 42-year-old Nshemerirwe Shallon in connection with the alleged murder of her husband, Bainomugisha Patrick following a domestic brawl on the night of April 13, 2025.
According to Greater Bushenyi Police Spokesperson SSP Martial Tumusiime, Nshemerirwe confessed to killing her husband during an argument that escalated at around 9:00pm. Reports indicate that she struck Bainomugisha on the head with a shovel, resulting in his death. The suspect cited ongoing domestic violence and frustration over her husband’s failure to provide for their children’s school fees as motives for the incident.
Following the alleged murder, Bainomugisha is accused of digging a pit in their bedroom, wrapping Patrick’s body in bedsheets and burying it there.
She was apprehended on April 14, 2025, in Mbarara City while attempting to flee the scene and is now in custody at Buhweju Central Police Station.
SSP Tumusiime stated that police are currently awaiting a court order to exhume the body from the home for further investigation.
