Tayebwa, 26, arrested for assaulting his wife to death
Police in Buhweju District have arrested a 26-year-old man, Tayebwa Richard, alias Kyoojo on allegations of killing his wife, Evas Ankunda, 27. The incident was confirmed by Martial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi police spokesperson.
According to reports, Tayebwa, a resident of Kitega 1 Village in Bitsya Sub county was in a relationship with Ankunda who worked at a bar in Bitsya trading center. On April 4, 2025, Tayebwa learned that Ankunda was allegedly cheating on him with another man at the bar.
Tumusiime stated that Richard confronted Ankunda at the bar and assaulted her. She was rescued by locals who contacted her father and subsequently reported the incident to the police. Ankunda was taken to Nsiika Health Center IV and later referred to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
Disan Musinguzi, Ankunda’s father, reported the matter to authorities, leading to Tayebwa’s arrest.
