50 Year old man remanded for assault
A 50-year-old man, John Mutiine Kanyabwoya has been remanded to Kyamugorani Government Prison until May 8 by the court in Rubindi Town Council. The decision was made by Grade One Magistrate Smith Kayanja.
Mutiine, a resident of Rugarama Kyandahi in Kagongi allegedly assaulted his in-law, Sarah Kibetti on April 7, 2025. According to preliminary investigations, Mutiine confronted Kibetti, accusing her of bewitching him.
Reports indicate that Mutiine had sought the services of a witch doctor to uncover the cause of his cattle’s mysterious deaths and family disputes. The witch doctor allegedly identified Kibetti as the source of his troubles prompting Mutiine to waylay her and inflict injuries that resulted in injuries to her head. The case highlights ongoing concerns about accusations of witchcraft in the region.
