
Bushenyi businessman arrested for alleged murder
Police in Bushenyi District have arrested a businessman in connection with the alleged murder of a 42-year-old man while they continue to search for four local security guards involved in the incident.
The events unfolded on April 7, 2025 at around 4:00 a.m on Kikuubo Street in the Ishaka Division of Bushenyi Ishaka municipality. The deceased, Innocent Muhanguzi also known as “Body Guard,” was a self-employed resident of Katungu cell in Ward II.
According to Greater Bushenyi police spokesperson, Martial Tumusiime, the deceased was reportedly apprehended by the four security guards while standing near Duncan’s shop in Kikuubo Street. Allegations suggest that they dragged him approximately 70 meters to Edison’s shop where they began assaulting him under the suspicion of attempting to break in.
Eyewitness Magezi David, a gym attendant from Power Rangers Gym recorded part of the violent incident on his phone. Upon realizing they were being filmed, the guards chased him away.
Innocent Mwikirize, the businessman, was arrested alongside the shop owner to assist with ongoing investigations. The body of Muhanguzi was discovered in front of Edison’s shop showing multiple external injuries. It has since been taken to Kampala International Teaching Hospital for a postmortem examination.
