Security guard stabbed to death, suspect apprehended
Police in Bushenyi have arrested a 28-year-old man, Evans Tumwiine alias Kadogo on suspicion of murdering a security guard in a violent confrontation yesterday, March 5 in Katungu cell, Ishaka Division, Bushenyi Municipality.
Martial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi police spokesperson confirmed the incident and identified the victim as Brian Matsiiko, 30, a security guard at the Church of Uganda in Katungu and a resident of the area.
According to reports, the incident occurred while Matsiko was on duty. He allegedly confronted Tumwiine as he entered the church premises suspecting him of attempting theft. When Matsiko tried to apprehend him, a struggle ensued. During the altercation, Tumwiine reportedly produced a sharp object and stabbed Matsiko in the chest.
Matsiko was rushed to Doctor’s Case Medical Center in Ishaka for emergency treatment but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities have since detained Tumwiine as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the incident. The police urge the community to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to prevent further violence.
