Kyegegwa: Man hacks wife over suspicions of cheating
Police in Kyegegwa district have launched a hunt for a man suspected to have hacked his wife with a panga following a confrontation where he was accusing his wife of cheating.
The suspect identified as Twesige Charles, a resident of Kihiika-Kikamba cell Magoma parish, Kigambo Sub-county, Kyegegwa district, is said to have been violent towards his wife identified as Sarah Ketty throughout their marriage.
The couple reportedly separated but the two still lived close to each other.
According to the police report, on Aug 05, 2022, Twesigye reported to the chairman LC III alleging that his wife had an affair with another man the previous night.
The report adds that Twesigye had always suspected his wife of cheating with other men and threatened to kill anyone found with her.
It is said that on the fateful day, the suspect went back to Ntuntu trading center where he owns a retail shop, picked a panga, and headed to his mother-in-law’s house where he found his wife sleeping on the bed talking on the phone at around 09:30PM.
He immediately attacked her with a panga, cut her left hand and then ran away leaving the helpless woman lying in a pool of blood.
When Police from Ntuntu police station were called, they rushed to the scene of the crime but unfortunately, the accused was on the run and they have since launched a manhunt as investigations into the matter continue.
