Ministry of Health commissions UGX 3.6b hospital Laboratory in Mbarara.

The Ministry of Health in partnership with USAID have today commissioned the new Mbarara regional referral hospital laboratory.
The Ministry’s Permanent secretary Dr. Diana Atwine and Richard Nelson, the Mission Director in Uganda for the U.S. Agency for International Development, commissioned the histopathology and research laboratories Center worth 985000USD approximately UGX 3.6billion.
Speaking at the function, the Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital director Dr. Celestine Barigye, said the lab will help in research and preservation of specimens.
Dr Diana Atwine, the Permanent secretary Ministry of health assured the health workers that the government will increase the salaries of the next financial year 2022-2023 asking them to act professionally.
Speaking as the chief guest Richard Nelson, the Mission Director USAID Uganda called for proper utilization of the facility as they secure more funds to ensure that the facility is put into proper usage.
The laboratory was constructed by the efforts of USAID through RHITES south west with contractors of COIL Engineering company.
