NRM Flagbearers asked to work for harmony

The District National Resistance Movement (NRM) office in Kazo district convened a pivotal meeting yesterday at Compassion Hall in Kazo Town Council bringing together various party flagbearers at various levels including Subcounty, district, MPs, veterans and DEC members. The gathering aimed to strategize and coordinate efforts for the upcoming 2026 general elections.

The event was graced by the Deputy Speaker,Rt. Hon. Thomas Bangirana Tayebwa who attendinded the meeting via zoom and was the keynote speaker. In his address, Tayebwa expressed concern over the rising number of independent candidates within the district criticizing their support from some flag bearers. He emphasized that this trend poses a challenge to the party’s unity and the government’s efforts. He urged all flag bearers to foster unity and work collaboratively to eliminate the proliferation of independent candidates which he described as a heavy burden for officials to manage.

Nkaija Wilson, the NRM Chairman for Kazo district and chair of the meeting underscored the importance of teamwork. He called on members to work harmoniously and to intensify voter sensitization campaigns focusing on encouraging voters to support party flag bearers. Nkaija highlighted that such efforts could help curb the increasing number of independent candidates.

The meeting was attended by various flagbearers including Hon. Molly Nawe Kamukama, NRM flag bearer for the district woman MP seat, Hon. Dan Kimosho, the MP for Kazo constituency and party flag bearer who urged members to maintain honesty and transparency in their campaigns for the party’s success.

Additionally, Nsiima Astone, the NRM Chairman for Kazo Town Council called on all members to diligently implement their assigned roles and collaborate closely to combat the rise of independent candidates. He emphasized the importance of unity and coordinated efforts in safeguarding the party’s interests ahead of the elections.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment among all stakeholders to work together towards a united front in the 2026 general elections.
