Pope Francis in Good Spirits, Health Slightly Improved
The Holy See Press Office reported on Thursday February,27 that Pope Francis is resting well and remains in good spirits as he continues his treatment at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital.
In a brief statement, the office indicated that the Pope “slept well during the night and is now resting.” After breakfast, he spent time in his armchair while receiving ongoing treatment. The Pope has been made aware of the many prayers and initiatives dedicated to him.
However, the Jubilee Audience scheduled for Saturday March 1, has been cancelled.
On Wednesday evening, the Press Office provided an update, noting that the Pope’s health condition had slightly improved over the past 24 hours. They reported that the mild kidney insufficiency observed in recent days has subsided, and a chest CT scan performed on Tuesday night showed normal progression of the lung inflammation. Blood tests conducted on Wednesday further confirmed the improvements observed earlier in the week.
While the Pope remains on high-flow oxygen therapy, he has not experienced asthma-like respiratory crises since Wednesday evening. The prognosis for his recovery remains “guarded,” according to the Holy See Press Office.
Pope Francis was admitted to the hospital on February 14 due to bronchitis, and subsequent examinations revealed he was suffering from bilateral pneumonia.
