Focus on education, Mayanja tells natives
Residents of Ibanda South Constituency in Ibanda district have been urged to desist from the practice of allowing young children to attend burial ceremonies. This habit has been linked to poor academic performance in schools.
This call was made by Happy Herbert Mayanja, the LCV chairman for Ibanda district during a meeting with Councillors and LC1 Chairpersons of Igorora Town Council which took place in the council hall. The meeting aimed at discussing strategies for transforming Igorora Town Council into a model town within Ibanda district.
Mayanja highlighted that Igorora Town council, was selected to serve as the model town for the district. He emphasized that it cannot achieve this status if children spend extended periods at burial functions instead of attending school, which adversely affects their education and performance.
When addressing concerns about the absence of a health center in Igorora, Mayanja stated that they have communicated with the Ministry of Health and completed a survey and they are now awaiting the results.
Additionally, Mayanja announced that Nkondo Secondary School will be upgraded to a seed school in Igorora Town Council. He explained that they are in the final stages of this process to establish it as a government seed school.
