IGG faults Mbarara City roads Contractor on delays
The deputy Inspector General Of Government, Patricia Achan Okiria has tasked Multiplex construction company,a company contracted to construct roads in Mbarara city funded by world bank under the Uganda Support to municipality infrastructure development project,to speedup road works.
The joint contract between Multiplex limited and Ditaco international Trade was awarded in May 2021, under USMID to construct three roads in Mbarara city at a cost of 23 billion shillings. The roads include Major Victor Bwana Road (0.95KM), Galt road (0.65KM) and Stanley road (0.78km)
Originally scheduled to be completed by April, 2022, the road project has dragged on up-to-date.
Monitoring the road works on Monday, the ombudsman acknowledged that the contractor has achieved a substantial completion of works though.
There is still a lot to be covered which include; installation of street lights, road markings, trash cans among others.
