Hospital Askari beaten to pulp for intercepting Nurse with stolen mattresses
Police in Sheema are investigating circumstances under which a 30-year-old hospital guard at Rugarama health centre III in Rugarama sub-county in Sheema District, was allegedly assaulted by the hospital Nurse.
Naome Nabaasa 30, (security guard) accused Aryeija Penlope, an enrolled nurse attached to Rugarama Health Centre III of assaulting her with a hoe.
Nabaasa who is nursing wounds at St. Mary’s Clinic in Shuuku town council in Sheema District revealed that the assault happened after she intercepted Aryeija with a hospital mattress outside the hospital premises.
It is said Aryeija told the hospital guard that she was taking a mattress to the burial ceremony (near the health centre) to help a friend to sleep.
Nabaasa opened a case of assault against Aryeija at Rugarama police post.
Edridah Kebaraza, the District Health officer (DHO) Sheema said that after receiving the information about the assault she called the sub-county chief together with health in charge to sit with the accused and the victim to handle at the sub-county level.
Muhima Ignatius, Rugarama health III In-charge noted that they have held a meeting with Health unit management committee (HUMC) and the sub-county leadership and they ruled that the accused (Aryeija) should clear the hospital bills and they reconcile.
According to Kasule Consilata, the Sheema district police commander told our reporter over the phone that the case of assault was opened against a nurse (Aryeija) that they are currently investigating it.
