70-year-old woman murdered for intercepting thieves
Police in Mitooma District are investigating circumstances under which a 70-year-old woman was killed by unknown assailants.
Martial Tumusiime, the greater Bushenyi region police spokesperson, confirmed that the incident happened on Sunday night in Nyakishojwa cell, Katazo parish, Mutara sub-county in Mitooma District.
He identified the deceased as Bishiki Buradina, 70, a resident of Nyaruzinga cell, Katazo parish, Mutara sub-county in Mitooma District.
It is reported that on Sunday night, the husband to the deceased left home for an evening walk, leaving the deceased at home.
Upon his return, late in the night, and he didn’t find his wife at home, the door was closed, but not locked. He entered and slept, waiting for her to return, but in vain.
On Monday, some family members found their pig missing from a coffee plantation where it was tied and in the process of tracing it, they found the deceased’s body in a stream of water near the home of the deceased and informed police.
According to Tumusiime, there is a high possibility that the deceased tried to intercept thieves who stole the pig and they hit her with a blunt object on the head, which led to her death.
The body of the deceased was taken to Kitagata hospital for postmortem examination as investigations into the matter continue.
