Mbarara: Four arrested over extortion of money from PDM baneficiaries
Police in Mbarara district have arrested four people in connection to extortion of money from beneficiaries of Parish Development Model (PDM) program.
The suspects identified as; Valerian Twesigye, Adrine Kyokusiima, the treasure, Caleb Karuhanga, and Asaph Beingana, the chairperson who are currently detained at Bwizibwera police station are from Itara parish development committee in Rubaya Sub-County.
It’s alleged that the four suspects have been extorting and deducting money from beneficiaries of PDM under the guise of withdrawal fees.
Emmy Kateera Turyabagyenyi, the RDC Mbarara district confirmed the arrest of the four adding that the case is under investigation.
Kateera also warned all parish chiefs and committees to avoid extortion of money from beneficiaries of PDM urging members of the public to report all those who intend to do so.
