Police probe death of 24 year old nurse
Police in Rukiga are investigating circumstances under which a 24 year old nurse was found in her house in Kagunga cell, Pirate Parish in Muhanga Town council, Rukiga District.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region police spokesperson confirmed the incident and identified the deceased as Naturinda Christine, 24, a nurse attached to Karorwa HCII, and a resident of Kagunga cell , in Muhanga Town council in Rukiga District.
It’s said that on 18/07/2023 at around 09:00pm, the deceased entered her one roomed house and just pushed the door back but she did not rock it and slept.
Maate told journalists that on 19/07/2023 at around 11:00am a female neighbor got concerned and tried to call her but she didn’t respond.
Maate added that at around 12:00pm, Rubarema Dezideria, 48, a teacher by profession also a neighbor to the deceased also tried to call her but she did not respond. Consequently he pushed the door which was not locked and entered the room.
Upon entering the room, he found her lifeless body in her room and they called the Office in charge at Bukinda police post for further management and Homicide team were dispatched to document the scene.
After police reached at the scene two bottles one of Rwenzori and another one for mountain dew soda were recovered in the room with smelly substances, they have been submitted to the region for onward submission to Government Analytical Laboratory for analysis and the body conveyed to Kabele referral Hospital for autopsy (postmortem).
Police said that the report will be used to establish the actual cause of death.
According to Police, preliminary investigations suggest that the deceased might have taken poison thus committing suicide because the body had no external injuries and by press time no one had been arrested for inquiries.
