Joy as over 2700 land titles are handed over to residents
The government of Uganda has handed over 2761 processed freehold land titles to beneficiaries in Rwampara district.
Of these, Rwampara East got 2539 freehold land titles while Rwampara county got 222 freehold land titles.
The issuance of the freehold land titles is being implemented under the Systematic Land Adjudication and Certification (SLAAC) program, a pilot project implemented by the Ministry of Lands, Housing, and Urban Development.
The USD100 million projects are jointly funded by the Government and the World Bank.
While Handing over the land titles to the beneficiaries in Rwampara district the Lands, Housing, and Urban Development, Minister Judith Nabakooba said that the program was initiated to ease the process of acquiring land titles and the project will be rolled out across the country.
Julius Tusiime karuhanga, the area Member of Parliament Rwampara east asked beneficiaries to stop giving out their land as sureties in obtaining loans from money lenders.
Molly Asiimwe, the Rwampara district woman Member of Parliament advised the beneficiaries to desist from land fragmentation.
