Kazo: Stray buffalo injures one
One person is nursing injuries following an attack by a stray buffalo believed to have escaped from Katonga game reserve.
The victim identified as Kakuma Nathan in his 60s, a resident of Obuzinga village, Mushabwa parish in Kyampagara sub-county was on Friday morning attacked by a female buffalo coming from Kigando Kigarama village in Kazo sub-county.
Balikundembe Charles, the LC I Chairperson Obuzinga village said that he got the information that people were chasing a stray buffalo with stones and spears from Kigando village with intentions of killing it.
Balikudembe added that the Bufallo turned violent at Obuzinga village and injured one person in the back. The victim was rushed to Kagongo hospital in Ibanda district where he is currently admitted.
Natamba Abert, an eye witness, said residents later over powered the buffalo when it got tired and couldn’t run anymore. The residents then captured it and John Babagye, the Kazo District Internal Security Officer (DISO) shot and killed it.

Asiimwe added that by the time the team arrived at the scene, the residents had slaughtered the buffalo and shared its meat.
Asiimwe also cautioned residents against killing stray wild animals noting that such acts threaten the tourism sector.
