Bushenyi: Seven boreholes worth UGX 292.9 Million commissioned.
Atuhairwe Robert, the new Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Bushenyi presided over the commissioning in of the seven boreholes in seven sub counties in Bushenyi district.
Speaking during the commissioning functions at Rwenyena primary school in Kitagata, Kyeizooba Sub-county in Igara East constituency and at Kabande Primary school in Nkanga sub-county in Igara west constituency, Atuhairwe commended the current regime for bringing services near to the people and urged the communities to use the boreholes to promote proper sanitation and hygiene in their localities.
Atuhairwe noted that with proper hygiene and adaption of government programs like Parish Development Model, disease will be minimized and communities will attain economic development.
At Rwenyena Primary school where the borehole was constructed, Tumwebaze Robina, the Principal Assistant Secretary Bushenyi district local government noted that government will not realize its intended objective of providing the water source to the school and the nearby communities because the school’s enrollment is still low with is only 165 pupils.
Tumwebaze called upon the schools’ management, PTA and the parents to mobilize more pupils for the schools adding that it’s their sole responsibility to ensure that the schools have many children and government’s responsibility is to provide services.
Victor Kahangye, the district Water Engineer asked the schools and the benefiting communities to ensure that they support the water user committees for sustainability of the bore holes.
Other boreholes were constructed at Nyakabingo in Kakanju, Kayengo in Bitooma, Nyamyerande in Ruhumuro, Nyarurambi trading centre in Ibaare and Kahungye in Nyabubare.
