IGP Honors Security Guard with Shs500,000 for Bravery
A private security guard from Eagle Eye Security Agencies named Paul Lokongo has been rewarded with UGX500,000 shillings by the Inspector General of Police Abas Byakagaba during a ceremony held in at Kazo Central Police Station in Kazo district this afternoon .The presentation was facilitated by Matsiko Grace, the head of private security agencies as a token of appreciation for his integrity and bravery.
Lokongo gained recognition after refusing a bribe from cattle thieves caught at Mzee Kanyamuyenga Michael’s farm in Rweminyafu, Kazo town council. He collaborated with police at Kazo Central Police Station and played a crucial role in rescuing a stolen cow. His integrity helped lead to the arrest of three suspects including Kashoma Nelson, the son of the cow’s owner and two herdsmen, Bwengye and Kamwesigye Moses who were detained under SD Ref 795/3/12/2025.
During the handover ceremony, Matsiko Grace emphasized that the financial gift was intended to motivate security guards to continue working closely with police in maintaining law and order.
The Kazo district Resident District Commissioner Capt.(rtd) Yahaya Kakooza expressed appreciation for the officers’ efforts and urged the public to utilize the services of private security firms for safety and security.
Lokongo, who received the reward expressed gratitude for the recognition and called on fellow private security guards to uphold loyalty and integrity in their duties.
According to the Kazo district police commander, Joseph Nsabimana, the suspects including Kashoma Nelson were later released after the cow owner claimed that the animal had been given to his son. It was noted that the security personnel involved were unaware of this claim which contributed to their subsequent release.
