
Mbarara District Chairperson Reshuffles Executive
The Mbarara District Chairperson, Didas Tabaro Tumwesigye, announced a mini reshuffle in his executive during a district council meeting on Wednesday October 13.
In the shakeup, Simon Ankunda was transferred from the position of Secretary for Finance, Planning, and Administration taking up that of Secretary for Works and Technical Services while Abraham Manigye was appointed to take over the finance position and as well retained that of Secretary for Social Services.
Tabaro stated that these changes aim to provide members with diverse experiences and improve service delivery. He highlighted challenges from constituents noting that the works committee has hindered progress in the area since it has been inactive.
Ankunda, who represents Nyabisirira Sub County pledged to improve road conditions despite funding and equipment limitations. Manigye, the LCV councillor for Rubindi Sub County plans to explore new revenue sources and promote the registration of traders with the Integrated Financial Management Information Systems to reduce corruption and misuse of funds.
For the financial year 2024/25, Mbarara District has achieved 76% of its local revenue target of 5 billion shillings and received 100 million shillings for road maintenance in the second quarter from the central government.
