District Commercial Officers warned against mismanaging Cooperatives
The General Secretary Uganda Cooperative Alliance Limited, Ivan Asiimwe has urged District commercial officers to always insist on using the established regulations in the management of cooperatives.
Asimwe asked that cooperatives should endeavor to refer to the available laws and regulations for guidance in financial and social audits, management and other legal requirements to avoid cooperatives from collapsing.

While addressing a capacity and skills enhancement for the District Commercial Officers from the regions of Ankole, some parts of Greater Masaka and Kigezi in Mbarara city at skylight hotel on Monday, Asiimwe acknowledged the fact that many District Commercial Officers are ignorant of the sector rules and regulations in Uganda.
He encouraged them to always endeavor to learn and follow these laws.
Addressing the media at the sidelines of the training, the woman Member of Parliament for Mbarara city, Ritah Atukwasa Bwahika appreciated the initiative noting that it will equip the District Commercial Officers in issues to do with development, organization and growth of cooperatives in the country.
The 3-day capacity and skills enhancement training organized and conducted by Uganda Cooperative Alliance Limited aimed at skilling the District Commercial Officers in areas like cooperative ideology, principles and values, Record keeping, financial accounting among others.
