Rubaare Health Center IV receives a donation of mattresses and blankets
Well-wishers, through the family of Rtd Brigadier General Samuel Kakuru, have donated a total of 70 mattresses and 70 blankets to Rubaare Health Center IV in Rubaare town council in Ntungamo district.
While handing over the items at the facility on Tuesday afternoon, Rtd.Brig Gen Samuel Kakuru, a resident of Rubaare town council revealed that the items were procured with support from friends in the United States, where his daughter Jean Natukunda stays.
Kakuru also called on the locals to work with the facility staff to protect the items and commended the district for working towards reviving the facility by improving management and doing repairs.
Jean Natukunda revealed that the donation was made possible by the support of the members of the abundant life church in Boston, USA.
Fredrick Muhwezi, the chairperson of the health unit management committee, revealed that the donation is timely since the facility did not have enough mattresses and blankets for patients and their attendants.
He revealed that the items would be put to good use.
Beatrice Chemisto, the Acting District Health Officer, revealed that the district is very grateful for the support from the well-wishers and tasked the management of the facility to do proper documentation of the donated items so that they are not messed up.
Samuel Muchunguzi, the Ntungamo district LC V chairperson, revealed that the district leadership will ensure that more staff are recruited to improve service delivery in all sectors.
Muchunguzi revealed that staffing levels are currently at 47%, which he says is below average.
He further revealed that the district also plans to ensure that more structures are put in place at Rubaare Health Center 4, and the future plans are to elevate it to a community hospital.
