District leaders warned against implementing government programs before official launch
Mbarara Resident District Commissioner, Emmy Kateera Turyabagyenyi has directed district leadership both technical and political never to implement any government project without being launched officially.
Turyabagyenyi sounded the directive while officiating at the official launch for heavy grading of Kagongi-Kyakajebere road of 4.3 kilometers in Kagongi sub-county, Kashari north, Mbarara district.
RDC Turyabagyenyi requested the local government leaders of Kagongi Sub-county to make sure the money is properly utilized as specified in scope of works.
He explained that the road to be worked on must have some impact among the population where the land that it passes will gain value, the marketing of their produce such as coffee, matooke, maize and other food stuffs should reach market and there should be no more excuse of children not going to schools and women delivering in homes.
The district engineer Mbarara, William Bananuka said the maintenance program is estimated to last four days and will cost the government of Uganda UGX 9 million under the Uganda Road Fund (URF).
The Mbarara district Chairperson, Tabaro Didas requested all people who will be affected by the construction of roads to bear it as it is part of development.
The chairperson Kagongi sub-county, Evarist Twine and local council leaders witnessed the launching ceremony and appreciated RDC Turyabagyenyi’s way of work of promoting transparent accountability.
