Ibanda: Authorities call for vigilance as more cases of Ebola are confirmed
Ibanda district council has called for vigilance as Ebola cases continue to rise.
While addressing councilors on Thursday, Herbert Happy Mayanja, the LC V chairman Ibanda district said Ibanda is at high risk because it is near Mubende, where Ebola cases have already been confirmed by the ministry of health.
Speaking about the same issue Joseph Mukiibi, the RDC Ibanda district urged the members of the public to apply similar guidelines that were used to stop the spread of coronavirus (Covid-19), like social distance and avoiding crowds, among others.
Mukiibi added that in a few days, the district will outline measures to help in stopping the spread of disease.
Meanwhile, Dr Henry Kyobe, the Ebola Incident Commander, told reporters in Kampala on Thursday that there were seven confirmed cases and one confirmed Ebola death.
Kyobe noted that the ministry was following about 43 contacts of the victims and we are doing contact tracing.
How it is spread
Ebola is transmitted through contact with the blood, stool or fluids of an infected person and objects that have been contaminated with body fluids from an infected person.
One can also contract the disease through contact with blood, secretions, organs or other bodily fluids of infected animals such as fruit bats and other wild animals.
