123 Church leaders promoted after 10 years in service
123 lay readers have been elevated in their service after spending over 10 years in service.
Speaking at a function that took place at St James cathedral Ruharo, Rev Dr Fred Sheldon Mwesigwa, the Bishop of Ankole diocese congratulated the lay readers upon reaching this level and urged them to preach the gospel with the utmost confidence.
The Bishop assured them that they are pillars of the church and the church is always open to assist them as they execute the lord’s work.
Hon Amos Kakunda, the Member of Parliament for Rwampara County asked the lay readers to serve the Christians equally and use the land at their areas of work for development.
Herbert Takirwa, the chairperson lay reader’s Ankole diocese who doubles as the lay leader Rwobuyenje C.O.U Kinoni archdeaconry, asked his comrades to continue preaching the word of God that comforts Christians.
The Lay readers received new clergy robes, and certificates as sign of appreciation and recognition of their experience in the new level of service.
